I love this part of the movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas. My favorite part is when he's singing on the curly hill but that's everyones favorite part so I thought I'd draw my second favorite part. When he sings "I've read these christmas books so many times... I know the stories and I know the rhymes" the lighting on his face and the look of the whole scene is just enchanting. For those who haven't seen the movie, (first of all, wtf) Jack Skellington the pumpkin king of Halloween Town longs for something more and finds Christmas Town. Greatly inspired by this new thing he tries to explain it to his fellow citizens and they can't grasp the concept of something that isn't covered in ooze and blood and tentacles.
So he sits in his tower trying to find a logical way to explain it not only to them but to himself as well. Here he's reading a Christmas book that he's read before and not picking anything up from it.
I've read these Christmas books so many times
I know the stories and I know the rhymes
I know the Christmas carols all by heart
My skulls so full it's tearing me apart
As often as I've read them somethings wrong
So hard to put my boney finger on
Or perhaps it's not it's really as deep as I've been lead to think
Am I trying much too hard?
Of course I've been this close to see
The answers right in front of me, right in front of me!
It's simple really, very clear
Like music drifting in the air
Invisible but everywhere
Just because I cannot see it
Doesn't mean I can't believe it
I did the border first, really just putting in some of my favorite things about the movie. I put Jack's tower on the bottom left and Zero his ghost dog above that. On the other side I put the swirly mountain, Lock Shock and Barrel's tree house (which isn't actually on top of the hill like that but very close) and Dr. Finkelstein's lab with Sally's window. I initially wanted to add Sally's sewing machine cause I think it's awesome but it looked too weird like it was some bigass sewing machine against Jack's tower.
Done with faber castel pencils (better than prismas yo but very expensive), prisma markers, and a regular black writing pen.
Absolutely, completely dilectible. To Die for I do say. Fabulous job!^__^
One of my favorite parts is:
"Sound the Alarm! Sound the Alarm! Town Meeting!"
The cat siren and the hurst with the megaphone I just find wonderful.
Hnn perhaps I'll try my Markers in conjunction with pencil... good plan.
The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
